Suitable for beginners, those looking to refresh their skills, or those wanting a different perspective of basic techniques, this online workshop will give you a firm understanding of the fundamentals in machine knitting.
The workshop is a recording of a previous live session- lecture style on zoom. Using pre-recorded videos I teach the basic techniques & show samples of fabrics that can be developed from them. During this workshop you will learn a variety of techniques such as;
casting on/off
colour changing (striping)
lace holes & ladders
manual tucks for texture
punchcards for pattern- fairisle, weaving, hold, slip & tucking
increasing & decreasing
combining different yarns
You will also learn how to solve and avoid common problems, useful tips for steaming & making tension squares.
Links for my favourite yarn suppliers, insight into my design process and large library of fabric swatches.
I teach on a Brother KH890 machine, but almost all of the techniques are transferable to most machines including knitmasters & silvereeds and singer memomatics. (The main differences being button layouts on the carriages-the manuals for individual models will help here.)
